TOPS matriculates 6532 students for 2024/2025 academic session

Today, 25th of March, 2025, the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki held its much-anticipated matriculation ceremony on campus, officially welcoming the newly admitted students into the prestigious institution.

The event was a grand celebration, filled with excitement and pride, as the polytechnic matriculated 6,532 students out of the many applicants who sought admission.

The procession began with the matriculating students, followed by an oath taking which was conducted by the institution’s registrar, Mr Ojo Adeolu Ayangbemiga.

In his speech, the Rector, Dr. (Sur) S.A Ajibola, congratulated all the matriculants for scaling through the hurdles of 2024/2025 admissions process, noting that TOPS is on the path of becoming a world-class institution and that various mechanisms have been put in place to attain this feat.

The Rector maintained that the institution have all its programmes fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) which serves as an added advantage and respite to all matriculating students.

According to a statement provided to our correspondent by the institution’s public relations officer, Mr. Adebayo Samson Abiodun, TOPS is matriculating students into the School of Science, School of Financial Management Studies, School of Environmental Studies, School of Engineering, School of Agricultural and Natural Resources, and School of Business and Communications.

Dr. Ajibola however urged the students not to be carried away by basking in the euphoria of gaining admission into higher institution but be prepared to face the rigors of acquiring more knowledge which cannot be attained on platter of gold.

He warned the students to shun unregistered associations and cultism activities, noting that any form of hooliganism, thuggery, corruption, immoral, indecent and misconduct shall be sanctioned in consonance with TOPS rules.

The Rector equally admonished the students to continually remember that the distance between today’s ceremony and convocation cenemony is quite wide and it is important that the journey ends successfully.

He stated further: “For this to happen, you need to be regular in attending lectures, carrying out all your assignments, avoiding deviant behaviours and other vices that can expose you and others to danger.

“Finally, we wish to assure you of moximum security in TOPS. However, all hands must be on deck in order to report any suspicious activities to the Dean of Student Affairs, staff members and Security Officers nearest to you.

“Be reminded that the oath you have taken today is to be obedient to the Rector, the Management Team, all those in authority and to be of good conduct throughout your stay in TOPS. Please be warned that a breach of the oath that shall be administered today will definitely attract appropriate sanctions.

“I pray that the Almighty God will watch over all of you, prosper you and make you all a source of pride to your families, states, country and humanity. Today’s Joy shall be permanent. Amen.

“Once again, we congratulate all the matriculating students, wish you a productive and fruitful stay in TOPS. We pray that your journey at TOPS be a transformative and rewarding experience. Thank you all and God Bless you all.”

During the program, students were able to showcase their talents in ewi, cultural dance among others and rewarded by the institution management.

The event also featured the official opening and commissioning of Wema bank on campus, attended by several academic scholars and dignitaries.

Also present were Deans, Deputy Registrars, Academic Directors, Hods, School Officers, members of SUG government and other invited guests.
