Ex-lawmaker, Captain Ajao officially resigns from SDP

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that a former member of House of Representatives from Oyo State, Hon. Ajao Jacob Adejumo, has officially resigned from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Captain Ajao, who represented Ogbomoso North, South and Oriire Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly, announced this in a letter addressed to S.T Sola Adeyi, the chairman of the SDP in his ward in Aje/Ogunbado, Ogbomoso North.

The letter dated January 6, 2024, was equally addressed to the Chairman, SDP Ogbomoso North Local Government and the Electoral Officer, Independent National Electoral Cimmission (INEC), Ogbomoso North Local Government.

Ajao expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve during the last election and appreciated the friendships and relationships formed during his time as a member.

Although the former lawmaker described the decision as difficult, but deemed it necessary.

The resignation letter reads: “Dear Ward Chairman, please accept this letter as final notice of my resignation from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), effective immediately.

“After careful consideration and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to leave the party, I appreciate the opportunities l’ve had while being a member, and I cherish the relationships and friendships formed during my time with the SDP.

“I wish the party continued success in the future. Thank you for your understanding.”

Captain Ajao, who was the party flag-bearer in the 2023 election, did not, however, indicate the party he would be moving to.

The lawmaker was elected into the green chamber in 2019 under the platform of African Democratic Party (ADP), before seeking a re-election in 2023 under the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

However, he lost to Hon. Lamiju Akala of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who is the son of the late former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala.
