Say No To Rape: Irepo LG First Lady Leads Campaign Against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, Praises Oyo First Lady for Prioritizing Girl-Child Well-Being

The First Lady of Irepo Local Government, Alhaja Idiat Olayiwola, has taken a bold step in leading the charge against sexual and gender-based violence in the community. She mobilized women from various walks of life to participate in a sensitization campaign aimed at combating this menace, while advocating for the protection and empowerment of women and girls.

During the event, Alhaja Idiat praised the Oyo State First Lady, Her Excellency Olufunke Tamunominini Makinde, for her relentless efforts in prioritizing the well-being of the girl child and promoting gender equality across the state. She acknowledged Mrs. Makinde’s initiatives as a source of inspiration and motivation for the women of Irepo Local Government.

In her address, Alhaja Idiat stated “We deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of our First Lady, Her Excellency Olufunke Tamunominini Makinde, for making the well-being of the girl child a priority in Oyo State. Her initiatives have empowered women and girls, giving them the courage to speak up and fight against injustices. She remains a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration for us all.”

The campaign featured enlightening sessions, testimonies from survivors, and actionable plans to strengthen local efforts in addressing sexual and gender-based violence. Participants expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for championing this noble cause and pledged to uphold the values of respect, safety, and equality in their communities.

This initiative underscores the commitment of Irepo Local Government to fostering a society where everyone, regardless of gender, can live free from violence and discrimination.

In attendance were the wife of the Vice Chairman, Mrs Olanipekun Rebecca, the wife of the Leader of the House, Alh Adebimpe Alli (Lady Sasay) and all Councillors’ wives, Ward 03 Councillor, wives of all political office holders, PDP Women Leader, Alhaja Yushau Sariyu and all women leaders, party Chairman’s wife, the Head of Education Department, the PCRC Chairman, Mrs Esther Adegbenro and other staff from the same department
