FRSC Monitors Oyo-Oolo Road, Urges Motorists to Obey Traffic Rules

The Federal Road Safety Corps, RS11.3 Oyo Sector Command under the leadership of Corps Commander (CC) Rosemary UK Alo on Wednesday 25 December, 2024 carried out a road monitoring exercise along Oyo-Oolo Road.

The exercise is part of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) ongoing Operation Zero Tolerance campaign aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and ensuring effective traffic management during the festive period.

CC Rosemary UK Alo, Oyo Sector Commander, represented by the Sector Head of Operations (SHOOPS), RS11.3 Oyo, Deputy Corps Commander (DCC) BI Olugbesan emphasized the commitment of the FRSC to the United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety and Injury Prevention, in line with the directives of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed mni, FCA FCTI CPFA. He reaffirmed the FRSC’s dedication to reducing traffic-related deaths while promoting safer roads through efficient traffic control.

During the monitoring activity, DCC BI Olugbesan lauded the efforts of Acting Unit Commander RS11.312 Oolo, Chief Route Commander (CRC) Femi Adeyemo, and the Acting Unit Head of Operations, CRC RA Okunmoyinbo.

The team has been instrumental in ensuring lane discipline and managing traffic diversions for light-duty vehicles to alleviate congestion caused by heavy-duty vehicles along the busy corridor.

The Oyo-Ogbomoso Road, frequently plagued by road traffic crashes and obstructions due to its heavy use by articulated vehicles, remains a critical focus for the FRSC. Specific flashpoints like the RCC axis, Adetunji Village, Elega, Oolo, and Ide-ede have been targeted for daily traffic calming activities, which DCC BI Olugbesan commended as a proactive measure.

He urged FRSC operatives in the area to remain vigilant, adhere to operational guidelines, and prioritize their safety while on duty. The SHOOPS expressed confidence that these efforts would significantly ease traffic challenges and enhance road safety for all users.

This intervention underscores the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring safer highways across Nigeria during the festive season and beyond.
