JUST IN: Saki East Legislative Council Suspends Youth and Sports Supervisor For Alleged Misconduct

The Saki East Legislative Council has suspended Mr. Ogundokun Oguntoye, the Supervisory Councilor for Youth and Sports, following serious allegations against him.

This decision was announced during a plenary session held on Tuesday.

According to reports from D’Gold Media outlet, the suspension was prompted by multiple serious allegations directed at Mr. Oguntoye’s conduct.

The council lawmakers had earlier summoned him to address these allegations and requested a formal apology. However, Mr. Oguntoye failed to comply which made the legislative members to unanimously vote for his suspension.

It was gathered that the signatures of all the house members appeared on his suspension letter.

The resolution against Mr. Oguntoye include the following:

  1. Abuse of Office: Mr. Oguntoye is accused of misusing his position on various occasions, undermining the legislative process, and negatively affecting the efficiency of the Saki East Local Government.
  2. Disrespect and Contempt: The council noted a pattern of behavior characterized by a lack of respect for fellow council members, which is deemed inappropriate for someone in a reputable public office.
  3. Violation of the Code of Conduct: Investigations revealed that Mr. Oguntoye’s actions violate the established code of conduct for public officials, reflecting a significant lapse in the integrity expected of his role.
  4. Unprofessional Conduct: Reports indicate that Mr. Oguntoye engaged in behavior that falls short of the professional standards required of a supervisory councilor, adversely impacting the morale and functioning of the Legislative Arm.

In light of these serious infractions, the Legislative Council has decided to suspend Mr. Oguntoye from his responsibilities effective immediately.

This suspension is by the authorities granted to the legislative arm under applicable laws and regulations governing local government operations in Oyo State.

The suspension will remain in effect pending further review and decisions by the council.

During this suspension, Mr. Oguntoye is explicitly instructed to refrain from participating in any official activities or events associated with his office.

The council however urged him to fully cooperate with all ongoing inquiries related to the allegations.

Additionally, the council has equally ensured that all relevant parties, including the Chairman of the Local Government, local security agencies, and other stakeholders, were informed of the development.

This action underscores the council’s commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
