Four Arrested For Alleged Robbery Of POS Agent
The Police In Katsina State have arrested four suspected armed robbers for robbing a Point of Sale agent in the Babban Mutum area of Baure Local Government Area of the state.
The Suspects, according to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq, include two ex-convicts, Basiru Ayuba and Abdullahi Abubakar, who connived with two others, Muhammed Musa and Musa Rabi’u, to perpetrate the robbery.
Sadiq, in a statement obtained on Wednesday, noted that Ayuba and Abubakar had met at a correctional facility before their release. He stressed that upon their release, they met with Musa, who assisted them in perfecting the robbery plans.
The PPRO noted that after the plan had been perfected by the trio, they engaged the services of Rabi’u to conclude the last phase of the robbery act.
He further narrated that following the perfection of their plans, on September 6, the suspects launched an attack on the house of Rabi’u Umar, a PoS agent, and robbed him of the sum of N2m, a mobile phone, and 15 Libyan dinars.
Sadiq said, “The suspects; Basiru Ayuba, male, aged 22 years, Muhammed Musa, male, aged 45 years, all of Babban Mutum, Baure LGA, Abubakar Abdullahi, male, 20 years, and Musa Rabi’u, male, aged 20 years, were arrested in connection with a suspected case of armed robbery.
“On September 6, 2024, at about 0300hrs, the suspects criminally conspired and trespassed into the house of one Rabi’u Umar, male, of Babban Mutum, Baure LGA, a PoS vendor, where they robbed him of N2.7m cash neatly concealed in a black bag, a Tecno Camon 20 phone, and 15 Libyan dinars.”
He continued, “During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects, Basiru Ayuba and Abdullahi Abubakar, met at the Correctional Service facility, and upon release, they sought the help of Muhammad Musa to secure a rendezvous and plan their heinous acts.
“After the plan was laid out, they engaged the services of Musa Rabi’u to execute the final phase of their plan.”
The PPRO noted that upon the arrest of the suspects, the stolen items were recovered, and they would be prosecuted after the conclusion of the investigation.
“Upon arrest, a Tecno Camon 20, 15 Libyan dinars, and a black bag were recovered from their possession as exhibits. The investigation is still ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” Sadiq concluded.
PUNCH Metro reported on August 21 that the command dismantled a six-man armed robbery syndicate in the state.
Sadiq had informed journalists during a press briefing at the command headquarters that, following a series of reports about the nefarious activities of a notorious syndicate of armed robbers terrorising the Filin Polo quarters in Katsina metropolis and its environs, the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, swiftly deployed a team of operatives to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators.
“The team promptly swung into action and successfully dismantled a six-man syndicate of notorious armed robbers terrorising the Filin Polo quarters of Katsina metropolis,” he had stated.
