LG Polls: Irepo PDP candidate, TT defeats APC candidate with 17,497 votes

..as Oyo Deputy Gov congratulates all PDP candidates

Hon. Tunde Taoheed Olayiwola popularly known as TT has been officially declared winner of the just concluded Local Government chairmanship election in Irepo and duly returned Chairman-elect.

Olayiwola polled 17,497 votes to defeat his closest rival of APC, Abdul Fatai Abdul Salam, who secured 2,638 to emerge winner in a landslide victory.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) Returning Officer for Irepo local government, Dr. Rasheed Busari, made the official announcement on Sunday at the OYSIEC state headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

Olayiwola, who received resounding support across the ten wards of the local government area, had centered his aggressive campaign on community development, empowerment of students and creation of jobs opportunities to teeming youths.

Voters responded favourably to his message of inclusive governance and his dedication to tackling the urgent issues facing the local government, which resulted in a record turnout at the polls.

Olayiwola’s victory as the Executive Chairman elect was solidified when the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) announced the election results, which demonstrated his overwhelming support and acceptability over his closest rivals.

Addressing newsmen at the Kishi resident of the Deputy Governor after his official declaration as the chairman-elect, Olayiwola expressed gratitude to the people of Irepo local government for their support since the beginning of the electioneering campaign.

He equally appreciated the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde and his Deputy, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal for their unflinching support towards the election victory.

Noting that he won’t betray the trust placed in him, the chairman elect further expressed his profound gratitude to the Oyo Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abdulwaheed Adelabu Saliu; Local Government Chairman, Pastor Joel Oyetunji, party excos led by Honorable Hassan Ismail Odejide, as well as leaders, members and supporters of the party across the local government area.

He reaffirmed his pledge to keep his campaign promises and put in endless effort to improve the lives of every citizen in the local government area.

However, in his own succinct remarks, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Lawal described Hon. TT as a generous and loyal party man who will protect the interest of party members.

While commending all party leaders and members for their support throughout the electioneering campaign, Barr. Lawal wished the chairman elect and vice chairman-elect, Hon. Sunday Olanipekun Oyewole as well as councillors elect a successful tenure.

Councillors elects were Asiru Lukman Benya Ward 1; Jimoh Ibrahim Oyekola Ward 2; Mathew Rashida Racheal Ward 3; Yusuf Sadiq Adekunle Ward 4; Saliu Sarafadeen Ayinde Sassay Ward 5; Kasalai Lateef Alani Ward 6; Lawal Azeez Aremu Ward 7; Raheem Kabiru Awodi Ward 8; Azeez Tajudeen Kosalapata Ward 9 and Irekeola Rasheed Alade Ward 10.
