Iyaloja General: Princess Abeo demands public apology from Oyo Blogger over defamation, libel

The Iyaloja General of Oyo state, Princess Folashade Abeo Nurudeen, has demanded an unreserved apology letter from the publisher of Nijatoday blog for defamation and libel that she rubbishes Governor Makinde’s involvement and also sponsors hoodlums against oyo monarchs.

She went further to ask that the said apology letter should be published on 15 news blogs and 2 National dailies for retraction of the malicious defamation within 7 days of issuance.

This was contained in a letter dated 15th November, 2023, signed by Princess Abeo’s Special Counsel, DR. L.I Oyeleke Esq, and addressed to the publisher of Naijatoday news blog, Tunji Fabode.

It read: “DEMAND FOR APOLOGY AND RETRACTION OF MALICIOUS DEFAMATION”

“We are solicitor for ALAHAJA FOLASHADE ABEO NURUDEEN of No. 14 Akinola Street
Jerico GRA, Ibadan, Oyo state. (hereinafter referred to as “Our Client”), and it is on her firm instruction and directive we write this letter to you in relation to the false and malicious publication which you made on your infamous Naija Today News Blog concerning our client on 13th November 2023 In which the following words were written and published “TYALOJA GENERAL; ABEO RUBBISHES MAKINDE INVOLVEMENT, SPONSORS HOODLUM AGAINST YO MONARCHS”.

“We firmly protest the numerous untrue, falsehood and defamatory statement that you made of and concerning our client, published on your BLOG and circulated across different social medial platforms.

“Your comments are false and defamatory, and extremely damaging, your statements, taken alone and/or together, clearly convey the false impression that our client engage in criminal act of attacking traditional rulers at a wedding ceremony by recruiting hoodlums to beat and harmed the traditional rules present at the occasion for been opposed to our client efforts of becoming [IYALOJA GENERAL OF OYO STATE.

“You also portrayed our client as working against the Governor and Government of Oyo state on the account and in connection to process of selection of who occupies the position of IYALOJA General of Oyo State, knowing fully well that your claims are false, misguided, misconceived, diversionary, mala fide and calculated attempt to bring the reputation of our client to the mud.

“Our client is aware that you are been sponsored to make the publication with the sole intention of portraying our client as a criminal and a person unfit to hold the position of IYALOJA General of Oyo State and ultimately set her against the State Government.

“Sequel to the above, you are requested to submit a letter of a clear and unqualified apology, cease, desist, removal and retraction of your false publication within seven days (7days), to be copied to all the social medial platforms including your BLOG where you have published the damaging story.

“TAKE NOTICE that in an unlikely event that you allow the defamatory materials to remain on you BLOG or any other BLOG or social medial platform after the expiration of the days stipulated above, you have therefore associated yourself with and assumed personal responsibilities for the offensive publication and thereby become the publisher of the material and therefore this letter should be taken as a pre action notice.

“TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that in the event of your failure / refusal to comply with the above mentioned demands within 7 days of your receipt of this letter, we may be compelled to carry out the instruction of our client out in full we have further instructions to institute a suit against you in a court of law.
