Oyo Deputy Gov felicitates Sumonu Monsurah at 64, describes her as political Amazon

The Oyo Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-raheem Adebayo Lawal has congratulated, former Oyo Speaker, Senator Sumonu Monsurah on the celebration of her 64th birthday anniversary.

Lawal, in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday, described the distinguished Senator as a true democrat, political Amazon, pious Muslimah and nationalist whose track record as the first female Speaker will remain entrenched in the history of Oyo state.

He commended Summonu’s efforts and supports for the current administration, as well as her active role in Governor Seyi Makinde’s reelection, noting that she was so devoted and supportive with prayer throughout the electioneering period.

Recall that Summonu represented Oyo Central Senatorial District from 2015 to 2019 after serving as the First Female Speaker of Oyo state House of Assembly in 2011.

The statement reads: “On this special day, I felicitate with you as you attain this landmark age of 64 years in this holy month of Ramadan.

“You made history by becoming the first female speaker and, in 2015, as a senator in the revered chamber, you raised the bar for parliamentary procedure.

“You’ve worked harmoniously to take our dear state forward, and I applaud your commitment to Omituntun 2.0 as well as your continuous support for Makinde’s administration.

“I pray to Allah that he always keeps you surrounded by happiness and guide you toward the path of honesty and integrity.

“As you continue to serve our dear state and humanity, may he continue to provide you with unending grace, wisdom, and good health,” the statement read.
