BREAKING: Northern elders react to Tinubu victory at Presidential poll
MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, has reacted to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu’s victory, stating that he would have the most difficult job in the world to handle.
Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesperson of NEF, said Tinubu would have a lot of challenges to tackle.
Tinubu, who was the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, emerged winner of the just-concluded presidential election after polling the highest votes.
Following his victory, Tinubu would be sworn-in as President on May 29.
However, Baba-Ahmed said Tinubu faces challenges in the area of winning the trust of aggrieved Nigerians.
Writing in his weekly column, Baba-Ahmed wrote: “The President to be sworn-in on May 29 will have the most difficult job to handle in the world.
“His biggest challenge will be to win some trust. No leader anywhere can achieve anything of value unless he can get enough citizens to believe that he means well, and he respects them.
“The next president will have to build his own foundations of good and accountable government, because Buhari will leave none behind.”
We agree with the following statements credited to Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the spokesperson of NEF, that Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect would have a lot of challenges to tackle: His biggest challenge will be to win some trust. No leader anywhere can achieve anything of value unless he can get enough citizens to believe that he means well, and he respects them.
We cannot agree more with Baba Ahmed that “The next president will have to build his own foundations of good and accountable government, because Buhari will leave none behind.” It is very true and the President-elect knows that too well that Muhammadu Buhari did not lay any foundation in good governance, security and economy upon which Tinubu could build; Bola Ahmed Tinubu knows and all of us are aware that he (Tinubu) has to re-establish and cultivate the hopes of Nigerians in their government, starting with security, employment and empowerment, adequate electricity and economic development in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The restructuring of the Federation to make Nigeria practice true federalism is high on his agenda and this is the only way we can achieve peace and security, prosperity and progress in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Jagaban always love challenges and he knows how to get things done. I am excited and grateful that Nigerians voted Bola Ahmed Tinubu in as president and all I can ask every Nigerian to do is be prepared to work for the progress of our nation. God bless the people and government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
