The newly appointed Chairman of the governing council, The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, Barr. Sarafadeen Onijo, has donated two drones to security personnel in an effort to assist the authority in carrying out its responsibility to protect habitats and ecosystems from anthropogenic and human threats.

While presenting the items on Friday on campus, Onijo stated that the security team will have the much-needed advantage in monitoring the school’s terrestrial arrears and ensuring the protection of protected areas with the new technology.

He emphasized that he purposefully purchased the drones to support Governor Seyi Makinde’s efforts to bolster state security, notably at the citadel of learning where he was appointed as the chairman of the governing council to safeguard students and the entire community.

The chairman also said that the GPS drones will aid them in keeping constant watch over campus activity as well as keeping surveillance every time.

However, when asked if there was any security challenge before the idea of donating the drone, he said in a gathering that involves a large percentage of people, there is need to be security conscious.

He revealed that the Chief Security Officer of the school has been informing them about security attention on the campus, so it is important to put the drones in place because the Chief Officer can’t be everywhere.

He continued by saying that the drone will actually provide them with information, even if they are in their own quarters.

In his remarks, the Chief Security officer, while receiving the items, assured of the appropriate use of the items for the benefit of the service and the town at large.
