Ogun gov, Abiodun appoints new rector

Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun has finally appointed Dr Adeoye Odedeji as the substantive Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.

Dr Odedeji was named by the Governor as the Acting Rector of MAPOLY in December 2019.

After his appointment, the State Ministry of Education publicized an advertisement, calling on qualified persons to apply for the position of a Rector in the Ogun state tertiary institution.

MOUTHPIECE NGR gathered that Odedeji, was among those who were screened and thoroughly interviewed by the State Government.

MOUTHPIECE NGR also gathered that months after, the state government refused to unveil the lucky applicant, as many were involved in intense lobbying to ease Dr. Odedeji out of the rectorship race.

The Governor has through a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mrs. Olaseni Abosede Ogunleye, confirmed the appointment of Odedeji as the Rector of the foremost Ogun polytechnic.

The letter reads, “I have the directive of the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology to inform you that the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR in the exercise of his power as the Visitor to the Polytechnic has approved your appointment as the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.”

The spokesperson of the MAPOLY, Yemi Ajibola revealed that Odedeji was born on January 14, 1963, at Igan-Alade, Ketu Constituency, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He became a Lecturer II in the polytechnic in 1996 and he was elevated through the ranks to the status of Chief Lecturer in 2015.

He’s a graduate of the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Odedeji has got BSc. (Hons) Sociology & Anthropology (1987), M.Sc Sociology & Anthropology (1989).

He has got a Doctoral Degree in Agric. Extension & Rural Development (Rural Sociology) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 2014.
