The re-election bid of Governor Seyi Makinde received a major boost on Thursday when members of the Arewa Community stormed the Governor’s office in their large numbers to endorse Seyi Makinde/Bayo Lawal 2023 joint ticket.
The members, ably led by Alhaji Danladi Jagabal; Alhaji Danjuma Lawal; Sarkin Shasha and Alhaji Tahitu Jubril hinged the necessity of their visit on the need to appreciate Gov. Makinde’s giant strides since assumption of office and commemorate with the new deputy Governor on his new role.
“We are here to appreciate Gov. Makinde’s efforts and giant strides in Oyo State. We are also happy with your appointment as deputy governor and also running mate to governor Seyi Makinde in the next election.”
“We are here to endorse you. We are large in numbers. Makinde’s government has done unprecedented for Hausa community, even beyond past administrations.
“For the first time in history, Hausa community produced special assistant in current administration. We also have Supervisory councillor and SAs in local governments. We are very grateful for this.”
While speaking, Omo Oja Oba prayed for Makinde and his deputy that God will continue to guide him. He added that the government should continue in his gesture towards them and never to spectate them from other hosting tribes.
“We appeal to the governor to keep factorising us in slots or opportunities. We don’t want a segregated Nigeria. We have no where else to call our home.”
In his remark, the acting governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal expressed his happiness to see Seriki and the rest of the entourage, to pay him visit.
“I know that seriki is a serious minded person. He doesn’t go out anyhow. I know for him to have come out to this event, it means all Arewa are present here.
“Your representatives are in this government. Our governor doesn’t discriminate because he knows that we are all together. Now, we are moving together with the pace he has created.
“We are glad that you have come here to endorse our governor for second term. This is a tip of the iceberg, by the time we emerge in 2023, we’ll double our efforts.
Aare Bamofin of Kishi stated further: “By the grace of God, in 2023, you’ll still ckme back to congratulate His Excellency, Seyi Makinde. For Seriki to have come here, I will also come to pay him visit to celebrate our victory.
