US, Interpol, arrest South Africa-based Nigerian over $12m fraud

A Nigerian based in South Africa, James Aliyu, has been nabbed for alleged $12 million fraud.

He was nabbed in a luxury Sandton Estate and dragged to the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

Aliyu has been accused of involvement in a romance scam and Business Email compromise (BEC) fraud.

Aliyu, became prominent for extravagant spending, purchasing luxurious items, funding life of luxury and enjoying holidays at different locations.

He has got expensive vehicles such as Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes C220d and Mercedes-Benz G63 allegedly bought out of the money he accumulated from crime.

He has been on watch of international investigators for about six years.

His arrest came as a result of joint task multi-agency investigation between Interpol, the US Homeland Security investigations and the US Secret Service.
