Police arrest suspected cultists, recover harmful weapons in Edo

Edo State police have arrested seven suspected cultists in the state.

ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, the Deputy Public Relations Officer, has via a statement confirmed the arrest.

Andrew Owhoyavwosa, 22, Joseph Meshak, 25, Osazee Solomon, 35, Godswill Obasohan, 25, Charles Odiase, 52, Okoh Peter, 68 are alleged members of Eiye and Aiye cults.

The spokesman revealed that the suspected cultists were nabbed by Ekiadolor sector within Ekowe community.

The seventh one of them was apprehended at Igbe road in Auchi Etsako West Local Government Area.

The police said on July 2, the suspects, after sighting police operatives, ran away from the scene of their unlawful assembly.

Iwegbu revealed that the police officers pursued, caught up and took them to the police station.

Some harmful weapons such as locally made single barrel guns, one locally cut to size single barrel gun and 30 live cartridges were discovered with them.
