Police arrest bankers planning robbery, hackers trying to steal N3.4bn

The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has reiterated that his administration will not stop fighting crimes and criminality in the country.

The Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, has via a statement, said that the IGP has commended the Oyo Command, and the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Squad (FIB-IRT) for recent achievements.

Baba acknowledged the notable successes achieved so far through identification, trailing and arrest of suspected criminal elements through technical and human intelligence.

Baba publicized the arrest of four members of a “notorious bank robbery gang and two bank officials ”.

The suspects were caught after plans to attack a new generation bank within the Ibadan metropolis in Oyo, have been concluded.

The FIB-IRT also caught five members of a fraud syndicate who were into breach of bank accounts of people and corporate bodies.

They were caught as they were trying to hack into a company’s account and steal N3.4billion.

Furthermore, IRT operatives apprehended notorious arms dealers and two suspected kidnappers in Kaduna, and this effected the release of two kidnapped persons.

Adejobi revealed that the suspected criminals would be dragged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
