Nigerian governor joins traders in sanitation exercise, engages 31 firms to clean state

Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo on Saturday joined traders in sanitation exercise.

The Governor joined traders in the popular Eke Awka market for the cleaning of the market’s surroundings.

The State government has recently declared the recommencement of the monthly sanitation exercise.

He stated that ensuring a healthy environment was part of the governor’s agenda for the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime has via a press statement stated that besides the monthly exercise, the governor has commissioned 31 contractors to facilitate the cleanliness in the state.

Aburime said, “Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Saturday flagged off a Special Sanitation Exercise in the state capital.

“Mr. Governor performed the exercise at the popular Eke Awka Market roundabout with traders.”

Aburime said the sanitation exercise has recorded considerable attendance.

He said 21 local governments of the state would continue to educate the people on the importance of a clean environment.

He said, “The Governor expressed appreciation for the turnout of people who participated in the exercise and appealed to them to join hands with the current administration in the state for effective environmental management.

“31 contractors have already been engaged in Anambra to help keep the state clean.”

Chairman of Eke Awka Market, Chief Jude Agummadu thanked the Governor for his presence at the flag off of the initiative of renewed sanitation in the markets and registered his readiness to give him all the necessary support.
