Kwankwaso warns senators not to be in hurry to impeach Buhari

The presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has warned senators against the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The former Governor of Kano State has told lawmakers from the opposition party not to be in a hurry to remove the president.

He made this revelation during a visit to Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in Ilorin, the state capital.

The former lawmaker from Kano State has appealed to aggrieved legislators not to rock the boat.

He said: “I don’t know the facts that they have. But as their former colleague, I want them to tread very softly.

“They should not be in a hurry to rock the boat. Yes, I know they have reasons to be worried – I am sure everybody in this country is worried about insecurity; because some of these things could happen to anybody – even the presidential fleet was attacked in Katsina State. So, I think we need to do more.”

Senators of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and some of the opposition angrily walked out of a Senate plenary session, on Wednesday.

The senators have walked out over the refusal of the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan to open the floor for discussion on Buhari’s impeachment and a notice served to the president.

The legislators have moved to remove president Buhari due to the spate of insecurity in the country.

The Senators have given Buhari six weeks to find solution to the security crisis in the country or they would be forced to remove him.
