FG spending billions to combat poverty – Ngige

The Federal Government of Nigeria is investing billions in social protection to combat poverty in the country.

Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, made this revelation at the 2022 World Day Against Child Labour on Thursday in Abuja, the country capital.

Ngige said the billions invested on social programmes is triple vaccination against poverty.

The minister revealed that the federal government was taking care of the people despite the country’s dwindling income.

“Children are endangered. That is why the government, the ILO and other stakeholders have been working assiduously”, NAN quoted him saying.

The minister said the policy was to ensure that children are well fed with nutritious food, while farmers, traders and cooks make income

The minister also added that poverty is being addressed through the conditional cash transfer programme, Trader Moni and N-power.
