Senate President, Ahmed Lawan loses senatorial ticket, as INEC declares Machina the authentic candidate

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has confirmed and accepted Bashir Sheriff Machina as the real candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Yobe Zone C Senatorial District.

The electoral commission has also disclosed that the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan is not the party’s candidate for the senatorial district.

The APC had earlier signaled that Lawan is its senatorial candidate, as Lawan’s name was uploaded by the ruling party on the INEC portal as the party’s senatorial candidate for the Yobe Zone C.

Even though the Nigerian Senate President did not partake in the party’s primary which enthroned Machina as the senatorial candidate, some powerful political actors in the constituency must have sneaked his name into the INEC portal.

MOUTHPIECE NGR observed that the SP was busy pursuing his presidential ambition when the senatorial primary election was conducted.

The number one citizen in the Nigerian Red Chamber had lost the presidential ticket of his party, APC to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
