Those who attended the funeral mass for the victims of Owo church attack could not hold their eyes not to shed tears.
MOUTHPIECE NGR had reported that on June 5, some gunmen attacked St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, during church service.
Forty of the innocent worshippers lost their lives in the church, several others sustained various degrees of injuries and have been hospitalized.
At the venue of the funeral mass (Mydas Resort and Hotel in Owo) were the Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his wife, Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu, and the former Governor of the State, Olusegun Mimiko.
Akeredolu, who wept while passing his message, confessed that the government has failed in its responsibility to safeguard the lives of Nigerians.
The governor admitted that the security architecture of the country needs total overhauling.
Jude Arogundade, the Bishop of Ondo Catholic Diocese, in his reaction consoled the state governor, saying he’s not a failure to his people.
“You didn’t fail. You are a strong soldier. Your determination to protect those who voted you into power is unquestionable. This was done by cowards. You have tried your best”
The large hall of the Mydas Resort was filled with many people, families of the victims who have come to sympathize with the bereaved families, from across and beyond the state.
