Nigerian governor suspends finance commissioner indefinitely
The Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development in Ebonyi State, Mr Orlando Nweze, has been indefinitely suspended by the Governor of the state, David Umahi.
The commissioner was indefinitely suspended for his alleged “inability to discharge his duties effectively”.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Kenneth Ugbala, made the information available to newsmen, via a signed notice of suspension, on Wednesday in Abakaliki, the capital of the state.
The governor ordered the suspended commissioner to hand over all properties of the government in his care to the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, before work closing time on Wednesday, June 15.
“Please, ensure strict compliance to this directive,” the statement read in part.
MOUTHPIECE NGR recalls that the suspended commissioner was among those aides of the governor who were not affected when the governor dissolved his cabinet in 2021.
