The PDP chieftain and former House of Assembly hopeful, Hon. Yemi Ajani has empowered over 150 residents in Ogbomoso North Local Government with POS machines.
The empowerment was to create opportunity for beneficiaries and also to be part of entrepreneurship that is being preached by Makinde led government.
Mouthpiece NGR correspondent, Adebowale Ahmed, who monitored the program, said the items were given to the beneficiaries at Ogbomoso North PDP secretariat, Ajagungbade Plaza on Wednesday.
Hon. George Ogunlade, the PDP Chairman Ogbomoso North LG congratulated all the beneficiaries for getting to the selection stage, adding that the tools would serve purposes for which it was targeted.
However, in his remarks, Hon. IREDE disclosed that the programme, organized for the less privileged across 10 wards in Ogbomoso North, was aimed towards poverty alleviation and human capacity development.
He added, “We are looking forward to seeing the prosperity that is coming into your lives, and we will thank God for it.”
While encouraging the good use of the tools by the beneficiaries, he noted that the initiative is targeted to consolidate the successes achieved so far by Makinde-led administration.
“We are guaranteed to get more in Ogbomoso when we support the present administration, especially in his re-election bid.”
One of the party leaders, Alhaji Garuba Cashman commended IREDE Foundation for its thoughtfulness and creating a viable source of income for all the beneficiaries.
He added that with the required support in partnership, “everybody can be that person they desire to be.”
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Olamide who identified himself as an electrician said he did not expect to be shortlisted for the empowerment.
“This is a day I will never forget in my life. I have been hearing of empowerment. But I have never been opportune to be selected.
“I thank Hon. IREDE for helping us come out of poverty”.
Olamide described him as a philanthropist while promising to make the best use of the tools given to them.
Other political leaders present at the occasion also attested to the goodness of Hon. Ajani Irede, urging him to continue with his philanthropic gesture and community services to the people.
