Buhari govt sent people to kill farmers in my state – Nigerian governor cries out

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, Wednesday accused the federal government for the killings in his state.

Ortom leveled the allegation against the federal government, that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has sent “people” to kill farmers in his state.

While speaking on a television session, the governor said the federal-government-sponsored killings of his state’s farmers have made it difficult for his government to generate Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

He cried out that the alleged sponsored action has increased the number of Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state.

According to the governor: “My IGR is low because of the security situation in the country; I can’t raise IGR. Today, as I talk to you, over 1.5 million people are IDPs and are no longer going to farms.

“The Federal Government and COAS have sent people to kill farmers in their farmland.

“We are now in the rainy season, but farmers are no longer going to their farms, so how do I raise IGR?”
