Be Good Ambassadors Of Oyo State, Women Commissioner Charges NSIP Monitors

The Oyo State Commissioner for Women Affair and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola,on Wednesday, charged members of the Independent Monitors of the National Social Investment Programme, drawn from the state to carry out their duties diligently and be good ambassadors of the state.

The State Commissioner, gave the charge while
flagging off the Oyo State Stream 2 Independent Monitors of the National Social Investment Programme held at the conference room of the Ministry of women affair and social inclusion, State Secretariat Ibadan.

The commissioner, who was represented by the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Folakayode Oluyemisi, called on the state participants to see the program as an opportunity to build their careers and ensure that the federal government is well informed of the data gathered from the fields in the State.

According to her: “The National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) was created by Federal Government in 2016 with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of Social Interventions which include the Job Creation Programme – NPOWER, National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (CCT), among others.

“In order to achieve the Primary Objectives of the NSIPs, the federal government engaged the services of Independent Monitors from Oyo state to monitor the programme in their various communities.

“The program has also served has employment opportunity for the participants drawn from various local governments of each state.”

In her remarks, the representative of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Mr Sheu Idris, noted that Monitors are one of the most important components of the NSIP, hence the Ministry lays special emphasis on ensuring its programmes are closely monitored.

He, however, warned that any Independent Monitor found intimidating or harassing a beneficiary will be withdrawn from the programme.

The Monitors later went ahead to engage in a training session, and were later presented engagement letters and working tools.
