Just In: Tension as UCH rejects patients over renovation of hospital blocks

Information reaching Mouthpiece NGR news room says the University College Hospital (UCH) located in Ibadan is rejecting patient especially those with emergency cases over ongoing renovation of hospital blocks. 

Mouthpiece NGR learnt the Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Abiodun Olubanjo Otegbayo had ordered patients to leave the hospital blocks including those battling death. 

An eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent said patients are asked to relocate to private hospitals as doctors and other staff have stopped attending to people. 

“Currently, there is palpable tension in the hospital, some of the patients neglected and rejected on Thursday have lost their lives while health situation of others have become worse”, the eyewitness added. 

When contacted, a Patient who was heavily injured in a motor accident on Tuesday narrated how he was rejected at the hospital. 

He appealed to FG and the Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene on the matter before more lives are lost.

  1. This is a terrible piece. A sound journalist would have attempted to find out what really is happening within the hospital. This is lazy journalism to put it lightly

    1. The information is true I saw them discharging patients at the Accident and Emergency unit of UCH because there’s no place they will put them just because renovation is ongoing same same as South East 1 ward all in the name of renovation all as against human lives. They said CMD directed them not to admit patients again. They had stopped admitting patients to the Accident and Emergency Unit of UCH.
