Oyo Ad-hoc Revenue Staff Cry Out To Makinde Over N29,000 Salary

Ad-hoc staff of the Oyo State Internal Revenue Service have appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to intervene over what they described as an unbearable N29,000 monthly salary.

In a plea letter addressed to the governor, in which a copy was made available to MOUTHPIECE NIGERIA on Tuesday, the workers said they serve the state with dedication despite the harsh economic situation, but their current stipend is no longer sustainable.

“Despite the economic meltdown, our salary is N29,000. We are arguably the last who are still earning a low salary. Some of us are married men with kids, while we have many mothers raising kids,” the workers stated.

They lamented that the amount cannot sustain an individual for a week, let alone family members, adding that many of them are “dying in silence.”

According to Ad-hoc staff, their situation has not been brought to the governor’s attention, expressing strong belief that Governor Makinde, whom they described as considerate and passionate, is unaware of their predicament.

“We have explored all channels available to make our case known, but we met stumbling blocks in all our efforts. You are our last hope,” the letter read.

The ad-hoc staff appealed to the governor to not only review their salary to a commensurate level but also consider granting them permanent employment to enable them to be more productive in boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.

“You are not just our governor, but our father in the state. We believe you can bless us with a commensurate salary and even give us permanent employment to make us more productive. We are ready to work harder to make Oyo State greater in generating more revenues,” they pleaded.

They thanked the governor in advance, expressing hope that their cry would receive prompt attention.
