Falsehood Can’t Earn You Oyo People’s Confidence, Adekanmbi Tells APC
The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) Governorship Campaign Council in Oyo State has said that it has become a norm for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Barr. Sharafadeen Alli, to spread falsehood and unfounded allegations in a bid to secure the confidence of the people of the state.
The Campaign Council was reacting to an allegation by the APC that the APM and its governorship candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, were responsible for the destruction of its billboards in some parts of Ibadan, the state capital.
In a press release signed on Tuesday by its Director of Communication/Spokesperson, Yinka Oladoyinbo, the APM Campaign Council said it has nothing to do with whatever happens to the campaign materials of the APC and should not be dragged into such if it ever happened.
“The party hereby strongly warns the APC and its candidate to desist from linking Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and the APM with any act of violence. The last seven years of the leadership of the state under Governor Seyi Makinde has been characterised by peaceful coexistence and development,” the statement read.
“The APC should stop raising unsubstantiated allegations against Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, a well-known man of peace, who has never been associated with any activity that can lead to the destruction of other people’s properties.”
The Council said no amount of falsehood against Adekanmbi and the APM can stop the APC from being defeated at the polls in 2027, adding that the people of the state are aware of the party’s tactics.
“We recall that a few days ago, the APC orchestrated a false narrative when it attempted to blame its internal crisis on APM members by claiming that some of its leaders were attacked by APM members during some of its engagements.
“Only two days ago, the Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation extended the frontier of its deceit when it claimed that there was an outbreak of diphtheria in the state.”
According to the Council, the APC governorship candidate and his party have no tangible programmes with which to convince the people to vote for them, hence their resort to deception and blackmail.
“However, the people that have experienced good governance with excellent service delivery under Governor Seyi Makinde in the last seven years will not return to the dark era as they are wiser and convinced that continuity is the best option that can further sustain and extend the development of the state,” it added.
The APM Campaign Council appealed to security operatives in the state to investigate the allegation to ascertain its authenticity and expose those behind the act, while urging its members to remain peaceful and go about their electioneering activities without fear.
