Oyo Deputy Gov Honours Baba Ogunlade At 85 In Oyo Town
..Attends Edu Commissioner’s Daughter’s Wedding In Ibadan
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barrister Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, on Saturday attended the wedding ceremony of the daughter of the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Segun Olayiwola, in Ibadan, where he admonished the couple— Boluwatife and David to guard against third-party interference in their marriage.
The Deputy Governor, who harped on the sermon delivered by the officiating pastors, urged the newlyweds not to allow external interference in their union.
He equally advised them to love each other without reservation, noting that people from Akwa Ibom State are known for their hospitality and warmth.
Barr. Lawal wished the couple continuous blessings in their marital journey, praying that they would continue to experience God’s favour and grace.
Speaking on the current political climate, the Deputy Governor, who noted that Nigeria is in an election season, urged the church to remain steadfast in prayer for the nation.
He stressed that Nigeria and Oyo State do not need violence, and called on religious leaders to continue to intercede for peace.
He emphasized the need for peace during the electioneering campaign period, stating that regardless of party differences, humanity must come first.
“It is my request to the church to continuously pray for peace for Oyo State and the country, especially during this electioneering season.
“And to the couple, handle your wife as your dearest. In marriage, it requires patience, and as the husband, you must try to avoid engaging in altercation but be more tolerant, especially whenever there is misunderstanding. With tolerance and accommodation, there will be peace and love, particularly embracing the motto of the church which says ‘let brotherly love continue’,” he said.
Similarly, the Deputy Governor later attended the 85th birthday celebration of Baba Oloye Sunday Ogunlade in Oyo town.
Describing the celebrant as a lover of people, particularly the youth, Barr. Lawal said Baba Ogunlade has always been concerned about their growth and development.
He prayed that God would grant him many more fruitful years on earth and equally prayed that everyone present would be alive to witness his 90th birthday anniversary in good health.
Among top government functionaries in attendance were commissioner for Energy, Prof. Daood Sangodoyin; commissioner for trade and investment, Prof. Soliu Adelabu; special advisers and assistants, including Governor Makinde’s ally, Mr. Double T, political leaders and members and a host of others.
