Eight lawmakers dump APC over insecurity
MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that about eight members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly have resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing internal party disputes, insecurity and poor performance by the state government.
The lawmakers communicated their decisions to their respective APC ward leaders in separate resignation letters.
Those who announced their exit include Ibrahim T. Tukur (Bakura), Aliyu Ango Kagara (Talata Mafara South), Bashar Aliyu (Gummi I), Faruk Musa Dosara (Maradun I), Basiru Bello (Bungudu West), Nasiru Abdullahi (Maru North) and Mukhtaru Nasiru Jikan Shehu (Kaura Namoda North).
In the letters, the lawmakers said they took the decision after consultations with stakeholders and constituents.
They cited disagreements among APC leaders in Zamfara, as well as what they described as unfair treatment and uncertainty within the party.
They also expressed dissatisfaction with the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal, accusing it of poor governance and failure to address the security challenges in the state.
“This decision came after careful and wide consultations due to lack of unity among the party stakeholders in the state, deception, uncertainties, injustice and inability of the government to overcome security situation in my constituency, state at large and above all nonchalant attitude, poor leadership of the Governor,” one of the letters read.
