World Teachers’ Day: Teachers Deserve Daily Accolades, Says Wale Canada

The lawmaker representing Atisbo/Saki-East State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Saminu Riliwan Gbadamosi, popularly known as Wale Canada, has described teachers as indispensable pillars of society whose contributions deserve daily recognition.

In his World Teachers’ Day message, Wale Canada felicitated teachers across Oyo State and beyond for their dedication, patience and unwavering commitment to shaping future generations.

He noted that while Teachers’ Day offers an opportunity to celebrate educators, their value goes far beyond a single day.

“Our teachers deserve daily accolades because their contributions to society are not limited to a particular day. Every doctor, engineer, lawyer, entrepreneur, public servant, political leader and professional was once guided by a teacher,” he said.

Describing teaching as more than a profession, he said it is a noble responsibility and the foundation for sustainable development, adding that the quality of education today will determine the strength and prosperity of society tomorrow.

He called for sustained investment in education, improved working conditions, continuous professional development, adequate learning facilities and policies that promote teachers’ welfare and dignity.

Wale Canada also lauded the resilience of teachers who continue to discharge their duties despite challenges in the sector, stressing that they deserve the collective support of government, parents and communities.

He commended teachers in Atisbo/Saki-East and across Oyo State for their service, urging them to remain committed to excellence and to continue inspiring students with knowledge, discipline, integrity and creativity.

“As we celebrate our teachers today, we must also remember that their impact continues every day in our classrooms and communities. Let us honour them not only with words, but through meaningful policies, better support and an environment that enables them to give their best,” he added.

“To every teacher who continues to teach, inspire, mentor and build the next generation, we say thank you. Your work matters, your sacrifices are appreciated, and your legacy will continue to live through the lives you have touched.”
