Nigeria at 66: Agboworin Calls for Peace, Progress, Says Nation’s Future Depends on Collective Responsibility

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the member representing Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, has congratulated Nigerians and called for renewed commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.

In a goodwill message to mark the October 1 celebration, Agboworin said the anniversary should serve not only as a moment for celebration but also for reflection on the country’s journey and the responsibilities required to move it forward.

He said the courage, resilience and unity that birthed Nigeria’s independence must continue to inspire citizens to work together for national development.

According to him, “Independence Day reminds us of the courage, resilience and unity that gave birth to our great nation. As we celebrate 66 years of independence, we must renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where peace, progress and prosperity are shared aspirations.”

Agboworin urged Nigerians to rise above divisions and embrace unity, patriotism, mutual respect and collective responsibility, stressing that the future of the country depends on the contributions of every citizen.

“We must continue to work together to build a nation that reflects our shared hopes and aspirations. Our diversity should remain a source of strength, while our common identity as Nigerians should unite us,” he said.

The lawmaker expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, noting that with collective effort, responsible leadership and patriotic citizens, the country can achieve greater progress.

He wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration.
