UI Students’ Representative Council Sets Stage for Odidiomo Legislative Summit on Service-Driven Leadership

The University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council (UI’SU-SRC), under the leadership of its Speaker, Rt. Hon. John Oludele, is set to host the Odidiomo Students’ Legislative Summit, an intellectual and leadership-focused gathering aimed at promoting a new culture of service, responsible leadership and active participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.

The summit is to be held on September 22nd-23rd, 2026, and is being organised in honour of Hon. Stanley Adedeji Dhkirullah Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo, a member of the House of Representatives and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for the Oyo South Senatorial District.

With the theme, “The Service Paradigm: Transforming Mindset for Service-Driven Leadership in Nigeria,” the summit is expected to bring together students, young leaders, public affairs enthusiasts, student representatives, and other stakeholders for robust discussions on the need to redefine leadership as a call to service rather than a platform for personal privilege.

The theme is particularly significant at a time when young Nigerians are increasingly demanding a new approach to leadership, one founded on accountability, selfless service, competence, integrity,y and a genuine commitment to the welfare and development of the people.

The Odidiomo Students’ Legislative Summit is expected to provide a platform for critical engagement on how Nigeria can cultivate leaders who understand that public office is fundamentally a responsibility to serve and contribute meaningfully to societal development.

Under the leadership of Rt. Hon. John Oludele, the UI’SU-SRC seeks to use the summit to deepen students’ understanding of legislative responsibilities, democratic governance and the important role of young people in shaping the future of the country.
