After 92% Endorsement, Abisoye Cries Foul Over Alleged Proxy Chairmanship Imposition in Surulere

…Appeals To Gov. Makinde To Prevent Factional Dominance

Hon. Ezekiel Abisoye, former Head of Political Administration, Surulere North LCDA, has appreciated leaders and stakeholders of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, in Surulere Local Government for their support and endorsement of his candidature for local government chairman.

Abisoye gave the appreciation on Tuesday, following an extensive stakeholders’ meeting held on August 2, 2026 in Iresaadu, where 12 out of 13 party leaders nominated and endorsed him as the APM chairmanship candidate.

He described the endorsement as a testament to his track record and expressed gratitude to the stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

The former LCDA boss specially appreciated: Barr. Olusunkanmi Olaleye, Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Isaiah Adegbite, Executive Chairman, Surulere LGA, Hon. Prince Adeleke Ajala, Hon. Peter Oyetunji, Hon. Chief Rasaq Mustapha Areo, Hon. Sayo Alagbe, Hon. Israel Ogundiran, Hon. Adeeyo Okesanjo*, APM Party Chairman, Surulere LGA, Hon. Rafiu Oyenibi, Hon. Lasisi Aworinde, Hon. Isaka Omikunle as well as all party leaders and the *Okajue Dynasty*

He also extended appreciation to all traditional rulers in Surulere Local Government for their support so far.

However, Abisoye raised concerns over the process, alleging that the APM candidate for House of Representatives, Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, went behind the stakeholders’ resolution to handpick a candidate for the chairmanship seat.

“After the extensive meeting of August 2 where I was endorsed by the majority of party leaders, it is unfortunate that Hon. Ojo Sunday Makanjuola, who was part of the leaders that endorsed me and who also canvassed for the seat to be conceded to the Okajue dynasty, went through the backdoor to impose one of his followers who has contributed nothing to the development of the party,” Abisoye said.

“How do we trust any of his promises? How do you intend to be the candidate of a party and also be the chairmanship candidate for both Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere by proxy? Where is the fair treatment for other political groups? Are we going into political slavery? Bamboo ni nse ise, ejo ni nje eran — how do you intend to compensate the efforts of other political actors?” he asked.

He further questioned how the party could expect a resounding victory “in a local government that has been won through teamwork, if one faction takes it all.”

Abisoye referenced a screenshot allegedly showing that the handpicked chairman only acknowledged members of the ‘Smato group’ as being responsible for his emergence, without recognizing other leaders and political groups.

Conclusively, Abisoye reaffirmed his loyalty to APM and to the leadership of Gov. Seyi Makinde.

He appealed to the Governor to intervene in the situation in Surulere Local Government to prevent one faction from dominating other groups within the federal constituency, “so that we can have a resounding victory in the coming election.”
