Makinde Endorses Engr. Rabiu Bello As APM Chairmanship Candidate For Ogbomoso North

..As Abu Salami set to replace Razaq Agbeti

Former House of Assembly candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Ogbomoso North State Constituency in 2015, Engr. Rabiu Adeyemi Bello, has emerged as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, for Ogbomoso North Local Government ahead of the forthcoming council election.

It was reliably gathered that Governor Seyi Makinde endorsed Bello’s candidature after careful consideration of the matter.

Recall that the political landscape in Ogbomoso witnessed a major shift on Sunday when Engr. Abu Salami was reportedly picked as the APM consensus chairmanship candidate.

The nomination, however, sparked contention and eventually led to the governor’s intervention.

Sources said consultation is still ongoing to decide between Michael Ajao and Mr. Paul Onirese for the vice chairmanship slot.

The development has effectively ended the second-term ambition of the incumbent Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Ogunlade, who had sought to retain his seat.

MOUTHPIECE NGR  reliably gathered that Engr. Abu Salami has been penciled down for appointment as a member of the Advisory Council — a position formerly held by Alhaji Razaq Gbadegesin, popularly known as Agbeti, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, before he resigned and left the APM.

Speaking with _MOUTHPIECE NGR_ on the development, a chieftain of APM in Ogbomoso North, who pleaded anonymity, said there is no division in the party anymore and that stakeholders are satisfied with the latest decision.

He noted that party members are happy with the emergence of Engr. Rabiu Bello as the chairmanship candidate, adding that the development has further strengthened unity among the political class in the local government.
