Liverpool FC Beat Man United 1-0 To Win Hon. Oyekunle’s 5-A-Side Youth Tournament
Liverpool FC have emerged champions of the Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, DON, 5-A-Side Youth Football Competition after edging Manchester United 1–0 in a thrilling final.
The grassroots tournament, sponsored by the Member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, DON, and hosted by Omo Alhaja Viewing and Gaming Arena, brought together young footballers from across the constituency to celebrate sportsmanship, unity, and youth development.
At the end of the keenly contested competition:
1. *Liverpool FC* – Champions + First-place cash prize
2. *Manchester United* – Runners-up + Second-place cash prize
3. *Barcelona* – Third place + Third-place cash prize
4. *Arsenal* – Fourth place
The tournament is part of a series of 5-a-side youth competitions initiated by Hon. Oyekunle to engage young people productively, discover football talents, and promote peaceful coexistence across Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
Addressing the teams after the final, Hon. Oyekunle congratulated all participants for their commitment, discipline, and sportsmanship.
“I congratulate every team that took part in this competition. While Liverpool FC emerged champions today, every participant is a winner because you have demonstrated teamwork, discipline, resilience, and respect for one another. These are values that extend far beyond the football pitch,” he said.
The federal lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to youth development, noting that sports remain one of the most effective tools for empowering young people and nurturing future champions.
“My commitment to our youths goes beyond words. We will continue to create opportunities that inspire, unite, and empower them. This competition is part of our broader vision of keeping our young people productively engaged while identifying and supporting exceptional talents within our constituency,” Hon. Oyekunle added.
The tournament concluded with the presentation of trophies, medals, and cash prizes to the top teams amid celebrations by supporters, football enthusiasts, and community members, who commended Hon. Oyekunle for his continued investment in grassroots sports and youth empowerment in Ibadan North.
