JUST IN: Enugu Air Aircraft Skids Off Runway at Benin Airport 

An aircraft operated by Enugu Air skidded off the runway of Benin Airport during landing on Thursday.

The airline confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official X account.

Enugu Air said all passengers and crew safely disembarked from the aircraft, “with no injuries or casualties recorded.”

The airline added that the aircraft has been secured and relevant aviation authorities have been notified in line with established procedures.

“An assessment of the aircraft and the circumstances surrounding the occurrence is currently underway,” the statement read.

“As a result, there may be temporary adjustments to some flight schedules. Passengers affected by any changes will be contacted directly and provided with the necessary assistance.”

Enugu Air said the safety of its passengers, crew and operations remains its top priority, adding that further updates will be communicated through its official channels.

The incident comes exactly one year after the airline commenced operations in July 2025.

Enugu Air began operations after Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State partnered with XEJet, an existing airline, to fast-track the process of obtaining an Air Operator Certificate, AOC, which “typically takes up to two years,” according to Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

Keyamo said the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, also approved the partnership, allowing Enugu Air to commence operations without delay.
