Military Recovers Fully Loaded Stolen Truck in Dramatic Operation

Troops of the Nigerian military have recovered a fully loaded trailer that was reportedly stolen in northern Nigeria, following a dramatic chase that ended with the vehicle somersaulting off the road.

A video of the incident shows the truck approaching a military checkpoint where soldiers were on standby after receiving intelligence about the stolen vehicle. 

The soldiers repeatedly ordered the suspected hijacker to stop. However, the driver allegedly ignored the commands and attempted to force his way through the checkpoint.

In a bid to stop the fleeing truck, the soldiers fired at its tyres. The vehicle subsequently lost control, veered off the road and somersaulted before coming to a halt.

In the background of the footage, a voice speaking in Hausa could be heard lamenting that the truck was “finished,” expressing concern over the damage to the vehicle after soldiers targeted its tyres.

After the crash, the suspected hijacker emerged from the overturned truck seemingly unhurt. He was immediately ordered to surrender before soldiers overpowered him, pinned him to the ground and took him into custody.

The military is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
