Flooding: Oluyole LG Accuses Rep Sadipe of Negligence Over Abandoned Ayegun/Olomi Road Project

The Oluyole Local Government has accused the lawmaker representing Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Tolulope Sadipe, of negligence and poor supervision over the deteriorating Arogo section of the Ayegun/Olomi Road.

The Executive Chairman of the local government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, made the allegation on Thursday during an inspection visit to the road.

He said persistent flooding and hardship being experienced by residents in the area are due to the failure to construct a standard culvert on the busy federal road.

According to Olatunji, only concrete rings were installed at the flood-prone location instead of a proper culvert, a situation he described as grossly inadequate for a densely populated community.

The council boss said the development reflects poor oversight of a federal constituency project, noting that the lawmaker has a responsibility to ensure quality execution.

“The failure to provide the required drainage infrastructure has worsened flooding in the area, exposing residents and motorists to avoidable risks during the rainy season,” Olatunji stated.

Speaking on the condition of Sanyo Road, which leads to his private residence, Olatunji commended residents for their patience and understanding.

He assured that the road had been captured in the council’s rehabilitation plan and would be fixed soon.

He explained that while he and his family would also benefit from the project, his administration had prioritized areas facing more critical infrastructure challenges.

“Public interest remains paramount. Available resources are being channelled first to areas requiring urgent intervention,” he said.

Olatunji reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure across the local government and appealed to residents to continue supporting ongoing efforts to deliver sustainable development.

He also expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for what he described as “visionary and pragmatic leadership” at the grassroots.

“The success we are recording at the grassroots would not be possible without the necessary support and guidance of the governor, who is our political mentor, leader, and father,” he added.
