Nigerian Arrested in Alleged Sexual Assault of Child at Toronto Grocery Store

Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child inside a grocery store in Scarborough.

Officers responded to the area of Victoria Park Avenue and St. Clair Avenue East around 7 p.m. on June 21 after a report that a child was assaulted while shopping with parents, police said.

Investigators allege an unknown man approached the child inside the store and sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing. Police said a civilian chased the suspect on foot but lost sight of him.

On Tuesday, police arrested Idris Olajide Oladejo, 35, of Toronto. He has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Oladejo was scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
