15 Church Kidnap Victims Regain Freedom After 67 Days in Captivity
Fifteen worshippers abducted during a night vigil in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, have regained their freedom after spending more than 67 days in captivity.
The victims were abducted from a church in the early hours of April 28, 2026.
A source said they were released in the early hours of Saturday and were later taken to the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital in the afternoon for medical attention.
Details of their release, including whether any ransom was paid, were not immediately available.
Authorities in the state have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The abduction sparked concern across Ekiti and neighboring states, with calls for increased security in rural communities and places of worship.
