Bullets Sent to First Bank MD Alebiosu Amid Loan Recovery Push, Police Investigate

First Bank of Nigeria Managing Director Oluwasegun Alebiosu reportedly received a death threat containing bullets at his Lagos residence, shortly after the bank intensified loan recovery efforts and restructuring.

Sources told _The Guild_ the package was delivered by a dispatch rider to Alebiosu’s Ikoyi home before May 20, 2026, and received by security personnel. Marked “confidential,” it bore only the recipient’s name and address.

A bank insider said Alebiosu opened the parcel to find two bullets taped inside an envelope, with no note or sender details. A staff member said the ammunition resembled AK-47 rounds commonly seized by police.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed it is investigating the incident through the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti. Police said CCTV footage from Ikoyi homes is being reviewed to identify the dispatch rider, described as a “critical lead.”

According to a top bank official, Alebiosu listed several debtors to police during interrogation, including Nestoil, General Hydrocarbons, Sahara Group, Petrostuff, Energy Shield, Broron Ltd, and Necit Ltd. The bank recently tightened operations to recover billions of naira in defaulted loans.

Lagos police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said the command is treating the matter seriously and urged residents to report suspicious activity.
