APM Gains Momentum as Prof. Raphael Afonja Returns to Party, Pledges Support for 2027 Electoral Victory
The Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Ogbomoso recorded a major boost on Friday as renowned academic, political figure and former Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof. Raphael Afonja formally returned to the party from the All Progressives Congress (APC), signaling growing confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Prof. Afonja was received by prominent party leaders and stakeholders at a gathering attended by the Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Hon. George Ogunlade; the immediate past Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Alhaji Kabir Akanji; Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole; Alhaji Lukman Alaga Mewa; Hon. Jide Oketunbi; and other party faithful.
Speaking during the event, party leaders described Prof. Afonja’s return as a significant development that further strengthens the party’s structure and electoral chances across Ogbomoso and Oyo State.
