JUST IN: Three Dead in Train Accident, NRC Confirms
Three people have died in an accident involving the Warri-Itakpe Train Service, the Nigerian Railway Corporation confirmed on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by Managing Director Kayode Opeifa, the NRC said the incident occurred earlier in the day and that emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
“Emergency response teams and relevant authorities are currently at the scene attending to the situation and providing necessary assistance,” Opeifa said.
The Presidency also confirmed the three fatalities. It said authorities are assessing the circumstances of the accident while support is being provided to affected passengers.
“The thoughts and prayers of all Nigerians are with the victims and their loved ones,” the Presidency statement said.
The NRC advised the public to rely only on verified information and official updates as investigations and response efforts continue.
Details of the cause of the accident and identities of the victims were not immediately released.
