Final-Year FUL Student Found Dead Along Felele–Lokoja Road

MOUTHPIECE NGR reports that the body of a final-year student of the Federal University Lokoja was found along the Felele–Lokoja Road in Kogi State on Saturday night.

The deceased, identified as Sarah Ojodomo Idoko, was discovered near the Crusher area along the busy Felele axis after she was allegedly dumped there by unknown assailants.

Eyewitnesses said a vehicle stopped briefly at the location around 8 p.m. before speeding off. Passers-by later found the body by the roadside and alerted authorities.

Initial reports identified Idoko as a student of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, after an ID card bearing her name was recovered at the scene. The card listed her as an HND student in the Department of Office Technology Management for the 2024/2025 session.

The Kogi State Police Command later clarified that she was a student of the Federal University Lokoja.

Commissioner of Police CP Naziru Kankarofi confirmed the incident and said investigations had begun.

“We are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and track down those responsible,” he said. “Details will be made public at the appropriate time. The command remains committed to ensuring justice for the deceased.”

Idoko’s death has renewed concerns about safety along the Felele corridor, a major gateway to Lokoja that has recorded several security incidents in recent years.

The Association of Nigeria Female Students, Kogi State Chapter, described the killing as “cruel, unfortunate, and unacceptable.”

In a statement, State Coordinator Comrade Celina Ojoniko James expressed sorrow over the loss and called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.

The group also urged government and security agencies to strengthen safety measures around campuses and student communities to prevent similar tragedies.
