Smato Reiterates Loyalty to Makinde, Calls Impeachment Rumors ‘Dead on Arrival’

Hon. Makanjuola Smato, a member of the House of Representatives Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency, has strongly condemned any rumors of an impeachment plot against Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, declaring such attempts “dead on arrival.”

In a statement released on Thursday, Smato identified the alleged plotters as agents of destabilization aiming to disrupt the state’s peace and undermine the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He asserted that their efforts are doomed to fail, as the governor enjoys widespread support from the people and stakeholders of Oyo State.

“As a member of the House of Representatives, I stand in solidarity with the Governor. I’m ready to follow him wherever he is going. My loyalty remains hundred percent with him and I am fully committed to the party,” Smato stated.

He added, “As a staunch supporter of his policies, I believe strongly in his leadership and developmental strides across the state, and I’m optimistic that the people of Oyo State will continue to stand by him.”

The lawmaker equally cautioned against external interference in the governor’s affairs, emphasizing that such influences should not meddle with Makinde’s political circle or the state’s internal politics.

Smato expressed full confidence in the legislative backing for the governor, noting that both the Oyo State House of Assembly majority and all PDP House of Representatives members are firmly in support of Makinde.

He concluded by urging party members to stay united and focused, highlighting that internal cohesion is the most effective defense against political distractions and manufactured crises.
