Bandits abduct bride, bridesmaids, over 30 women in Sokoto wedding 

Bandits struck Chacho community in Wurno Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Saturday night, turning a wedding celebration into tragedy as they kidnapped at least 30 women and girls, including a bride and her bridesmaids.

The heavily armed attackers stormed the village during the wedding festivities, shooting sporadically and injuring one resident.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen singled out women and young girls, rounding them up before marching them into the forest.

As of Sunday morning, no contact had been made by the abductors and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

The latest abduction has heightened fear among residents of Wurno and nearby communities, with many now fleeing to safer areas.
