In a show of administrative foresight, cultural pride, and commitment to community development, the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, 2027 governorship candidate and former Oyo State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, on Saturday made a triumphant homecoming to Iseyin during the 2026 Ekunle Day Celebration.
Tracing his maternal roots to the historic Sagaun-un Compound, Ita Obele, Ekunle, Adekanmbi was received to widespread celebration by traditional rulers, community elders, youth groups, and residents who turned out in large numbers to honor one of their own.
Demonstrating that his brand of public service is anchored on integrity and action, Hon. Adekanmbi redeemed his financial pledge on the spot by donating ₦5 million to the Ekunle Community Development Fund.
Beyond the cash donation, Adekanmbi announced the completion of the Engineering Drawings and Bill of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation, BEME, for the reconstruction of the collapsed Odo Ogba Bridge.
The proposed infrastructure project covers a strategic road corridor designed to boost economic activity and improve mobility. It includes:
1. *Full reconstruction and modernization* of the collapsed Odo Ogba Bridge
2. *Construction of the road corridor* from Ita Obele Junction to Ekunle High School
3. *Extension* through Ago Ijio to Iserin Junction
Adekanmbi confirmed that all technical designs, structural plans, and cost evaluations have been finalized and are awaiting executive approval from His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, to commence execution.
“Home is where the heart is. For me, service to my maternal home in Ekunle is both a sacred duty and a privilege. We do not just make promises. We back them up with immediate action and proper technical preparation. The Odo Ogba Bridge and connecting roads are vital to the socio-economic life of our people, and we are committed to seeing this development through to completion,” he said.
By combining immediate financial support with structured long-term planning, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi continues to reinforce his image as a pragmatic administrator focused on grassroots empowerment, structural growth, and community-first governance across Oyo State.
