Opposition Has Lost Grip On Oyo, Says Rep Oyekunle As Thousands Defect To APM

The member representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, has declared that the opposition has lost its grip on Oyo State.

Oyekunle said the growing movement towards the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) is a clear indication of changing political dynamics in the state.

He spoke in an interview with journalists at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement concert held at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Monday.

The event, which attracted over 50,000 supporters, also witnessed the defection of a large number of All Progressives Congress (APC) members and supporters led by the Boye Nation and JAF Movement to the APM.

The federal lawmaker applauded the organisers for their mobilisation and for providing a platform for opposition members to join the APM.

He described the massive turnout and the defection as a reflection of the party’s growing acceptance among Oyo residents.

“Oyo State is ready for APM, and Nigerians are ready for APM,” Oyekunle said.

According to him, the gathering at Adamasingba was more than a musical concert, but a demonstration of APM’s growing political strength and grassroots support.

He commended Boye Nation and the JAF Movement for the initiative, noting that the massive youth participation and political realignment witnessed at the event would have significant implications ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The concert, themed “Young, United and Unstoppable,” featured performances by Taye Currency, Tiri Leather, Qdot and other artistes, and served as a major gathering for APM supporters and stakeholders.
