NIPSS Commends Oyo Govt Over Decentralized Perm Sec Appointments, Digitization

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, has commended the Oyo State Government for the expanded and decentralized appointment of Permanent Secretaries across the seven zones in the Local Government system and the digitization of the system for faster policy implementation.

The commendation was given by Prof. I.D. Choji, mni, leader of the NIPSS delegation, during an on-the-spot assessment visit on administrative policies and strategic developments to the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC).

Prof. Choji, in a statement released by the Director, Education and Social Services of the Commission, Mrs. Funke Foluso Lala, noted that the policy would bring about improved service delivery and better welfare for the workforce.

He added that the Commission was on the right track in human capacity development through regular training workshops organized for all cadres in the Local Government system.

According to him, “We have noted some of what Oyo State is doing better than others. The structures at this Local Government House are massive and hardly seen in other states. This is a sign that things are working in Oyo State.”

Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole (Wolekanle), while welcoming and briefing the NIPSS officials, said the leadership style of Governor Seyi Makinde, which is geared towards creativity and transformation, is key to the Commission’s track record.

According to him, Governor Makinde’s leadership is evident across the State in infrastructure, education, health and other sectors.

“The Governor’s midas touch is massive and commendable. And I want to add that in a short while, the Commission will embark on decentralized human capacity workshops that will cut across all LG zones in the State in order to checkmate risks and other avoidable hiccups,” he said.

Present to receive the NIPSS team alongside the Chairman were Board Members, Alhaji Yusuf Ali Akinkunmi (Supreme) and Hon. Christianah Nike Arewa, and management members led by the Permanent Secretary, Pastor Adeola Omoyeni Oduola; Ag. Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Mr. Adedayo Faith Solaja; Director, Finance and Supplies (DFS), Alhaji Gbola Badiru Adedokun; Director, Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics (DBPRS), Prince Rasheed Olabiyi; Director, Education and Social Services (DESS), Mrs. Funke Foluso Lala; Internal Auditor, Alhaja Modinat Adeleke; and Deputy Director, Administration and General Services (DDAGS), Alhaji Olalekan Jelili Alade.

On the NIPSS team with Prof. Choji were Dr. Yomi Charles, Mr. Rotimi Mustapha, Hajia Hadiza Ibrahim and Mrs. Ademola Adenike.
